SCCR Indonesia and Agung Putra University (APU) Strengthen Biomedical Research Collaboration through International Conference
SEMARANG – Advances in biotechnology and biomedical research require spaces that bring together researchers, academics, and practitioners from diverse backgrounds. This spirit was reflected in the 1st International Conference on Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences (ICBBs) 2026, held in Semarang on August 1–2, 2026.
The international conference was organized by Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) in collaboration with Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) Indonesia and Agung Putra University (APU). With the theme "Translational Advances in Stem Cell and Cancer Research: From Bench to Bedside," the forum provided an opportunity for SCCR Indonesia and APU to expand their academic networks while introducing biomedical research developments that are part of their broader ecosystem.
Bringing Together Education, Research, and Biomedical Development
The involvement of SCCR Indonesia and APU in ICBBs 2026 reflects their shared connection in the development of education and research. APU is part of the SCCR ecosystem, where higher education and scientific development play an important role in supporting advances in biotechnology and biomedical sciences.
During the conference, various research developments were presented through scientific presentations, symposiums, and discussions involving academics and researchers from Indonesia and several other countries.
Several topics discussed were closely related to areas that have been part of SCCR and APU’s research interests, including stem cell research, tissue regeneration, molecular cancer biology, precision therapy, and the development of biomedical research from laboratory studies toward clinical applications.
One of the key themes of the conference was how research findings can be translated more effectively into healthcare practice. For research and education environments such as SCCR and APU, bringing together basic research, technology development, education, and clinical needs is an important part of building a sustainable biomedical ecosystem.
Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra and the Development of the SCCR-APU Ecosystem
APU’s involvement in the conference was also connected to the role of Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med., who has been involved in the development of SCCR Indonesia and APU. At ICBBs 2026, Prof. Agung participated as one of the keynote speakers.
His participation provided an opportunity to bring the perspectives of SCCR and APU into discussions that brought together different fields within biotechnology and biomedical sciences.
