Enhancing Global Publication Quality: Agung Putra University (APU) Holds Scientific Writing Coaching
SEMARANG – Agung Putra University (APU) continues to demonstrate its commitment to becoming a research-oriented university through concrete initiatives. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, APU brought together its lecturers for the "Training Scopus & Coaching Scientific Writing" program. To ensure the quality of the training, scientific writing expert Prof. Dr. Diana Nur Afifah, S.TP., M.Si., was invited as the main speaker.
Leadership Support and Enthusiasm from the Academic Community
The presence of the university leadership demonstrated APU's strong commitment to improving the quality of academic publications. Vice Rector IV, Dr. Mohammad Annas, S.Tr.Par., MM., CSCP., CHRP., attended the event and actively supported the program.
The training was officially opened by the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Prof. Dian Respati Ayu, M. Biomed. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of writing support and guidance for academics. She expressed hope that APU lecturers would become more confident in targeting reputable international journals, thereby strengthening the university's competitiveness and position in the global higher education landscape.
Interactive and Practical Manuscript Review
Unlike conventional training sessions, which often follow a one-way format, Prof. Diana designed the session to be highly practical and focused on the participants' actual work. Instead of simply listening to theoretical explanations, lecturers were invited to review and discuss their own scientific article drafts and align them with the rigorous standards of Scopus-indexed journals.
As a result, the training atmosphere was highly engaging. The classroom was filled with interactive discussions as lecturers explored various aspects of scientific writing, from strengthening research methodology and highlighting research novelty to developing effective strategies for responding to feedback and rebuttals from international reviewers.
More Than a One-Day Program
Although the entire program was completed according to schedule, the research spirit developed during the training will not be allowed to fade after the event.
All participants and university leaders agreed that this productive activity should not remain a one-time event. Moving forward, the coaching and manuscript review sessions will be developed into a regular academic program at APU.
The ultimate goal is clear: to build a strong and sustainable research environment that supports not only the productivity of APU lecturers but also the academic development and research capabilities of Agung Putra University students.
