Building Cross-Cultural Harmony: International Students from UNDIP Explore APU's "Empowering Science Tech" through Global Student Sharing
SEMARANG – The atmosphere at Agung Putra University (APU) was different on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. The university, which promotes its "Empowering Science Tech" vision, welcomed international students from Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) as part of an event called Global Student Sharing.
The activity provided a space for students from different backgrounds to exchange ideas, learn about each other's cultures, and experience the academic environment and facilities of Agung Putra University (APU) firsthand.
Exploring Research Facilities and the Campus Environment
The activities began in the morning. The student group was picked up from the meeting point at Muladi Dome using transportation provided by the university. Upon arriving at Agung Putra University (APU), the international students were introduced to the university's research and innovation activities through a laboratory tour at the SCCR (Stem Cell and Cancer Research) building.
Accompanied by the university team, the students had the opportunity to see the laboratory facilities at SCCR (Stem Cell and Cancer Research) firsthand. The visit was followed by a presentation about the institution’s profile and activities.
The highlight of the tour was an opportunity to meet and have a direct discussion with Prof. Agung. The introduction to APU’s research facilities generated strong interest among the international students in the university's ongoing medical and technology research.
After exploring the research facilities, the students enjoyed a lunch together at Sains de Resto on campus. The informal gathering created a relaxed atmosphere before the participants and organizing team captured the moment with a group photo in the main lobby of APU.
Cross-Cultural Conversations in Themed Classrooms
The visit became even more engaging during the afternoon Sharing Session with APU student representatives. Interestingly, the cross-cultural discussion was not held in a formal hall but in APU’s unique themed classrooms, including the Harry Potter Classroom and Rainbow Classroom.
Accompanied by the observer team, Bondan, Nina, and Faris, the students engaged in warm, relaxed, and meaningful discussions. They exchanged stories about their home countries and cultures, their experiences studying in Indonesia, and their views on the future.
The conversation took place in an open and friendly atmosphere. Differences in background did not become a barrier. Instead, they created an opportunity for the students to learn from one another and understand the different perspectives brought by each participant.
The Global Student Sharing program concluded in the afternoon with the international students from UNDIP being taken back to their departure point. The visit was a meaningful example of academic and cross-cultural interaction that brought students from different backgrounds together in a shared learning environment.
