Agung Putra University (APU) Expands Research Perspectives through General Lecture with Prof. Akira Kurisaki from NAIST, Japan

SEMARANG – Agung Putra University (APU) opened an opportunity for international knowledge exchange through a General Lecture featuring Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med. and Prof. Akira Kurisaki from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan, on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Held at the APU Auditorium, the event brought together the academic community with two scholars who have experience in biomedical research and stem cell studies. In addition to providing a platform for knowledge sharing, the meeting also gave APU an opportunity to begin discussions on the potential development of an academic relationship with NAIST.

Expanding Research Perspectives through a General Lecture

During the General Lecture, Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra and Prof. Akira Kurisaki shared their perspectives and experiences in developing research in the fields of biomedical science and stem cells. The presence of two speakers from different academic backgrounds gave participants an opportunity to learn about research developments from both Indonesian and Japanese perspectives.

The session included presentations and discussions. APU lecturers and students had the opportunity to learn about recent developments in research and engage directly with the speakers through a question-and-answer session.

For the academic community, events like this provide an opportunity to broaden their understanding of developments in science at the international level. Direct interaction with researchers from overseas institutions also allows participants to exchange experiences on research approaches, scientific development, and challenges in the biomedical field.

Opening Opportunities for APU–NAIST Collaboration

The event also formed part of the initial exploration of an academic relationship between APU and NAIST. During the General Lecture, both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation that could bring together the educational and research strengths of each institution.

These discussions are still at an early stage and have not yet resulted in a formal cooperation agreement. However, the meeting opened a channel for further communication and exploration of potential academic collaboration, particularly in areas related to biotechnology, stem cells, and biomedical science.

For APU, the General Lecture was not only a platform for knowledge sharing but also part of its efforts to expand its international academic network. The meeting with Prof. Akira Kurisaki provided an opportunity for APU to introduce its educational and research environment while exploring potential academic connections with NAIST that could be developed in the future.
